Test Dogs Run the 9th

Test #1 Ruby
The test dog came to the line at 6:39 a.m.

LR: Straight down the hillside and up the other side and hunted the tall grass, then went down the   slope to get the rooster flyer.

MR: The dog went down the slope through the tall grass alternating the mowed strips and through the hay bales. The dog went deep but came back and got her hen pheasant flyer.

LR:The dog went down through the long grass; went deep and to the right and was handled to the bird.

Test # 2 Chase
The test dog came to the line at 6:48 a.m.

LR: The dog went straight down the hillside and over the hill going back into view to get the bird. Nice mark!

MR:The dog followed the mowed strip for a short while, then punched through it and went deep; The dog went back and ran around the guns and back to the bird.

RF: The dog went down the slope, through a patch of trees, across; up and deep to the next right; came back and hunted in front of the guns then picked up his birds

Series 8 - Water Blind - Test Dogs

Test Dog 1

Ruby

Blind - came to the line at 5:20

After the dry pop the dog was sent the dog was sent into the 1st small patch of water with two cast to get over the peninsula.  She needed a few more cast to get off the shore to get into the bigger body of water.  She swam across the piece of water with decoys onto the far shore to get her bird.

Chase

Blind - came to the line at 5:23

One cast into the first piece of water, then he ran down the shore.  One whistle at the far shore to past the decoys on the left to get passed the decoys on his right.

Series 7 Test Dogs

Test Dog 1 - "Ruby"

Came to the line at 6:45 - test took 15 minutes

Flyer - Down the slope across small piece of water, across hooked point up slope - SMACK

Left Retired - Down the slope, across the pond, over 2 peninsulas, switched to middle bird, hunted, then back to flyer fall - handled to bird

Middle Retired  - Down the slope, across the pond, over 1st peninsula to 2nd one - handled on land - across second pond to far shore - handled right to bird

Test Dog 2 - "Chase"

Came to the line at 7:03 - test took 10 minutes

Flyer  - Down the slope on to hooked peninsula, up the high side to the bird

Left Retired - Down the slope, across the pond, across 3 peninsulas, hunted far shore, made a couple of passes, them came back to get the bird

Middle Retired - Down the slope across the pond taking the tip of a peninsula across the land, water to far shore - Got his Bird

Walk Out - Straight to area and handed it up
Water Bird -  Handled after dog headed past and up hill

Hill Bird - Crossed thru mark's up to the top of the hill on left side of bird thrown right hunted hill and Got It

Test Dog Chase (12 Min)

Flyer - Straight to area then bird

Walk Out - Hunting hillside between walk out and hill bird, over a lot of area but got it

Hill Bird - Headed up hill between flyer and hill bird way, out of area - had to handle

Water Bird - Headed very wide right going up hill - hard to handled but he got it

*** Judges removed a bird in the interest of time management and mowed the field for safety *** 

Series 3 & 4 - Test Dogs

Called to the line at 6:33

Test Dog 1 - Pinehurst's Ruby Doo, "Ruby", LF, handler James Hurst was our first test dog for our Series 3 & 4, Land Blind / Water Blind test.  In the land blind it took 2 whistles to get tight to the tree and mount, 1 to get on the mound, she was quick to come off the mound, lost sight of her - Got It!  This took Ruby about 2 minutes to complete.  The water blind Ruby got into the pond but was out early, it took 2 to get to the point, on point.  She refused to get off the bank - Struggled.  This took approximately 2 minutes.

There is a ribbon the handlers can move to after the dog is in the water.

Test Dog 2 - FC-AFC-CFC-CAFC Jazztime Cut To The Chase, "Chase", LM handle by Jim Rickoff

Land - Missed the mound, not tight, stayed left, multiple  whistles and Got It!

Water - Toe in and then out - 1 cast back in water to point, kept parallel to shore - Got It!

Test Dog - Series 2 - Day 3

FC-AFC-CFC-CAFC Jazztime Cut To The Chase - "Chase" and handler Jim Rickoff  came to the line at 6:27.

Flyer - SMACK!!

MR - Exited high on the point, drove deep left up the cluster, took a right near the "R".  Making two paces just shallow of the "R", then moved left over right again near "R", then handled to the bird.

Right - Wide right across pond, cut hard left behind the guns to the bird. 

Series 2 - Test Dog

Came to the line at 7:24

Flyer – Ran left of pond out to area – Got It.

MR – Into 1^st pond, behind blind out over mound behind flyer guns, back to front of tree and got the bird

RR – Into pond past decoys heading right of guns. Came out on guns right and hunted behind them into tree and Got It.

Came to the line at 7:34

Flyer – Got into 1^st piece, out then on the bird

Right – Into pond past decoys, swam to right of guns and got a little right and out of sight then came out of the tree and Got It.

MR – Swam all the way but heading right.  Had to handle to the bird.

Series 1 Test Dog

Test dog came to line at 6:25 am

Jim Hurst and Ruby

Flyer: made several loops in the area and had her bird.

LR: Front-footed it!

LMR: ran straight to the gun station, made a couple passes on the right then on the left to then retrieve the bird

Dog came to the line 6:46 am

Flyer: made two quick loops and had the flyer

LR: arrived in the area, est a hunt in front of the station getting wider and wider before rooting out the bird.

LMR: took an accurate path at the bird, jumped into the cover out of sight for a moment, then appeared with the bird in mouth.

It took Chase and Jim 5 mins and 30 secs to complete Series 1 Test

Second Test Dog

Flyer: drove hard and fast to the gunners, hunted just short of the area for an extended period of time and then was Handled to the bird.

LR: made a quick loop and scoop of this bird.

LMR: est a small hunt and got the bird clean

Jim and Ruby completed the test in 10 mins 30 secs
