We have run the first ten dogs and the conditions have changed. The clouds have rolled in and created more of a neutral light. The wind has picked up to 15 mph at the handlers back. It has made it more challenging to throw the Rooster Flyer into the wind resulting in 2 no-birds.

As the afternoon progressed, the wind has increased and clouds have moved in, however the temperature has increased to 72 degrees.

At around 10:00 am we noticed that the wind has switch from earlier in the day. It is now directly in their face, with light gust at 7 mph from the South.  The foggy mist we experienced earlier in the day has dissipated and the temperature had risen to 70 degrees with the sun shining bright in the sky.

Weather Report

Current temperature is 58 degrees, with a high of 72.  We have a hazy start to the morning.  The fog was rising off the pond causing a bit of a delay due to visibility.  The sky is clear and the sun is bright highlighting the birds in the air.  The air is still with momentary wisps of wind at 1 mph from the Southwest.

Mid-Test Conditions Report

We have run approximately more than half the dogs. The air is still and close with a light breeze from the SW at 2 mph. The cloud cover is low and we are expecting rain at any moment. The dogs appear to be doing this test with ease for the most part. We will be remaining in this same location for the next test: The 7th Series Water Triple with an Honor.

"Amish Interference" with a "Side of Turkey"

While Martha Blank's "Rinny" was going for her second bird, this Amish farmer came upon the middle of the test in his horse-drawn hay cutter. Then we had another unwelcome visitor. (BTW: "Rinny" got a rerun …)

Conditions Report

It is 2:03 pm.  The weather is ideal for both dogs and their people!  The temperature is 75'F which is the high temp for the day.  The wind has pick up and is blowing constant at 9 mph from the Southeast.  There is barely a cloud in the sky and the sun is shining bright.  Its a big tough test that seems to be getting the answers the Judges are seeking - "Who will be the best dog at the end of the week."

The breeze is now steady and the rain has stopped.  The skies are gradually clearing the clouds are saying "tootle - loo" to the Series 3 and 4 Land / Water Blind.  The air has warmed to a pleasant 62'F and more people are watching in the gallery!

It is drizzling rain with a temperature of 54'F.  The wind is light and variable at a 7 mph from the West.  It looks like we will have rain all morning with a chance of clearing mid-afternoon.

As we are coming to our last few hours of competing here at the 2017 National Amateur Championship our condition have changed once again.

We are at 68 degrees, the winds are cool and out of the NW at 12 mph.  The skies are mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain.

Let's hope the rain holds off until we finish up the 2nd series.

Well the "Song Remains The Same," For Day 2 of Series 2 Indented Water Triple.  There are very few wind saves, good lighting and pleasant weather. However non of those things helping any of the dogs complete series 2 without a hiccup.  These dogs MUST mark the birds and be relaxed enough to go and retrieve them.  The test is still holding true at 50% success rate.  A great spectator's test.

It is brisk this morning. The temp is 56 'F with a slight wind out of the West at 7 mph.  Conditions seem fair but we will have to stay tuned to see if today unfolds anything like yesterday.  Yesterdays success rate was about 50%.  Challenging test to say the least.

The clouds are breaking up and the sun is peering through the clouds.  This is highlighting the birds while they are in the air.  It is a clear advantage to run Series 2 Indented Water Triple RIGHT NOW!  The visibility is excellent and the chance of rain has gone down to 10%. The wind has increased to 15 mph and is now more Westerly.

Well the Judges should pat themselves on the back for this challenging Series 2 Indented Water Triple.  This Series 2 is getting the answers they need to make a cut going into the 3rd Series of this 2017 NARC.  As it sits, we have run 20 dogs and 10 of those first 20 competitors have a Handle or have Picked Up their dog.  The wind remains at our back blowing steady at 12 mph out of the Northwest shifting to the North at times.  The clouds have moved in and the air is cool even though the temperature is 70'F.  We have a 20 % chance of rain but the humidity sure seems like rainstorms are more probable than 20%.

This Series 2 is a nail biter. This is bringing many coaches and contestants visiting the Elite Retrievers tent to view diagrams, talk about the effects of the test, and gather some much needed strategy.

WELCOME TO SERIES 2 INDENTED WATER TRIPLE!!!

The current temperature is 65'F and warming.  It is partly cloudy and the sun is breaking thru the clouds highlighting the birds in the air.  The wind is at a constant at 10 - 15 mph predominately from the West switching to Northwest at times.  A Northwest wind makes all of the birds down-wind marks.  These marks are well-protected from a wind save so the dogs must go into it looking for the bird.

This morning the conditions for the continuation of Series 1 are perfect.  We will run one test dog and then immediately follow with the first running dog.  Dogs # 8 # 9 and # 10 are left to perform Series 1 Land Triple.

The temperature is 60‘F and the wind is varying between 8- 10 mfrom the West.  The sky is cloudy and the gunners are very visible.  The dew is heavy as it was yesterday.

Conditions Report

The wind is blowing steady out of the South at 6 mph.  The temperature is cooling at 73 'F.  The dogs are still struggling to come up with this flyer clean.  Many dogs have some sort of a hunt in relation to retrieving the flyer.  We only have about 20 dogs left to run Series 1.  The weather is calling for a storm to blow in about 7:30 pm.
